Vanilla Sponge

with Nutella


  • 2 Eggs

  • 125g Butter

  • 125g Sugar

  • 125g self raising flour

  • 2 Tablespoons of Milk

  • 6 Drops Vanilla Essence

  • 300ml Fresh Cream whipped

  • 1 Jar Nutella

  • Cupcake casings

  • Icing Sugar



Preparation time: 15mins
Cook time: 10mins approx
Ready in: 25mins


  • Cream together 125g butter and 125g sugar.

  • Mix 125g self raising flour with the creamed butter/sugar from previous step.

  • Whisk 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons of milk and 6 drops of vanilla essence. Combine with other mixture.

  • Even out into cupcake casings

  • Bake at 190 degrees for 10 minutes

  • Turn oven off, leave until brown or you can smell them 

  • Once cooled, use a teaspoon to scoop out a circle from the top of each cake, cut this scoop in two.

  • Fill the scoop with fresh whipped cream and Nutella

  • Place the two halves that you previously scooped out and rest on top as to appear as wings.

  • If you can hold off eating them and for extra yums, sprinkle with icing sugar.
